Focus On ~ The Wedding Dress

Probably, the most exciting thing about planning your wedding is shopping for your wedding dress! It's going to make you feel like a princess for the day and there are lots of styles to choose from.

When you're going to try dresses on, it's always best to check with the bridal shop to see if you have to make an appointment or whether you can just call in. Most shops like you to make an appointment so then they have plenty of time to attend to you.

Ever since Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding, lace has made a comeback in bridal gown design. Almost every bride that I've photographed in the last couple of years has has lace on her gown.

lace dress

This lace dress was straight at the front with a small train and the bride bought it because it swished round like this so requested a photo of it doing this.

Lace on the back of the gown have been popular as well, this one had a simple skirt.

Whereas this lace extended over the skirt.

lace over net train

If you like some lace but don't want it all over your dress then you could opt for something like this with motifs over a net skirt.

If you're not keen on lace, there are other options. This dress had a full net skirt with an embroidered bodice - fairy princess. (Bride's Dream)ruched dress

This dress had a gorgeous ruched skirt - now that's something you wouldn't wear every day. (Bride's Dream)Doxford Hall

Fish-tail dresses are always popular as they show off your figure.

Belt details have also been popular recently and it's good to get a close up. (Bride's Dream) If you want detail shots then make sure your photographer knows this. Don't assume that they will take lots of close ups. It's especially important if they're not coming to the house beforehand.

Whatever style you go for, you will feel fabulous! Even if you're not keen about being in front of the camera, you'll be striking a pose in no time!

My two favourite North East bridal shops are AJ Bridalwear in Newburn and Bride's Dream in Walkergate. Both shops have lovely staff and gorgeous dresses.
